Introduction Date: DECEMBER 2005 Product: Ballast Option Kit COMPATIBILITY: Rack 9000 series DESCRIPTION: * The ballast is a heavy bar of metal that can be mounted in the rear of the rack to provide permanent anti-tip protection. * It helps prevent the cabinet from tipping forward if heavy slide-mounted devices are extended from the rack. Note: * Ballast is intended to provide additional stability when there are operator serviceable slide-mounted products in the rack. A device is considered "operator serviceable" if it does not require the use of any tool to facilitate servicing or to extend the device from the rack on its slides. * Products that require the use of any tool to facilitate servicing or to extend the device from the rack are considered serviceable by trained personnel only. * When these products are extended, the use of the anti-tip foot is required, and no ballast is required in the rack.
